Aleta Botts

Executive Director

Aleta brings over 20 years of business, management, and government experience to her position of Executive Director of KCARD. In addition to leading the organization, Aleta works directly with businesses on projects and financial projections, helps organizations with budgets and board trainings, and provides strategic planning and employee management advice.

Kati Bowman

Marketing and Communications Specialist

Kati brings over 8 years of experience in direct to consumer marketing to her role as Marketing and Communications Specialist with KCARD. Kati provides marketing and communications assistance to businesses and organizations, assists with business planning and recordkeeping assistance and provides support for KCARD’s external communications. When she’s not busy marketing, she enjoys baking cookies and watching the latest episode of MacGyver or NCIS.

James Barrett

Grant Facilitator

For the three years prior to working with KCARD, James was an independent consultant with a focus on business data analysis and IT integration. During that same time, James was also the volunteer market manager at the Knox County Farmers’ Market. James is KCARD's Grant Facilitator, providing assistance to Kentucky's producers and agribusinesses in seeking and applying for funding. When James is not working, he is out hiking the most challenging trails in the United States.

Myrisa Christy

Project Director

Myrisa began working with KCARD in 2012 and brings over 10 years of project management experience to KCARD. Myrisa is currently the Project Director in Southeastern Kentucky, leading KCARD’s work in the region. Myrisa helps businesses with business planning, finding resources for their growing operations, and helping them access markets for their products. In Myrisa’s free time, she loves hiking, biking, and anything outdoors.

Spencer Guinn

Business Development Specialist

Spencer joined KCARD in August 2017 as a Business Development Specialist and brings over 7 years’ experience of working in agriculture production to KCARD. Prior to coming to KCARD, he worked as an engineer, developing, testing and redesigning agricultural and material handling equipment, conducting cost of production studies, and evaluating process efficiencies in new and current manufacturing. Spencer works with businesses on business plans, cost analysis, and other needs. When Spencer isn’t busy developing business plans, he enjoys managing his own family’s farm and making horseshoe art on rainy days.

Brent Lackey

Business Development Specialist

Brent has over 12 years of experiences as a Business Development Specialist for KCARD and brings over 3 years of cooperative management experience to the KCARD team. Brent has extensive experience in developing new cooperatives, assisting cooperatives and producer-owned businesses, conducting feasibility studies, and analyzing business management and operations. In Brent’s free time, you can find him hanging out with his two kids, John and Hannah.

Kellie Padgett

Business Development Assistant

Kellie joined the KCARD team in June of 2017. Prior to working with KCARD, she was a crop protection sales representative in Illinois and North Dakota. Kellie is leading KCARD’s western Kentucky outreach and providing business planning assistance throughout the KCARD service area. If she’s not traveling through western Kentucky, you can find Kellie digging into her flower and vegetable garden or nestled up with a good book.

Olivia Vogel

Business Development Assistant

Olivia joined the KCARD team in November 2018. Prior to working with KCARD, she worked at a vegetable and livestock farm in Central Kentucky and was introduced to the advantages and challenges of local food in Kentucky. Olivia’s upbringing on her family’s grain farm instilled in her a passion for the sustainability and growth of farms, families, and communities. In Olivia’s free time she enjoys raising, preparing, and enjoying beautiful foods with family and friends, hiking the Kentucky Palisades, and reading.
