KCARD: Twenty Years of Helping Kentucky Farm Businesses
The Kentucky Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (KCARD) is a non-profit organization here to support your farm or agriculture-based business, and most of our business planning services are free of charge. For 20 years, we have sat at kitchen tables, coffee shops, and board meetings helping farmers, cooperatives, non-profits, and others involved in agriculture achieve their goals. We provide business planning, market planning, financial projections, and funding identification.
KCARD offers one-on-one business consultation and business planning. We help you work through your goals, financial projections, a marketing plan, and operations plan to fit your agriculture-based business. Through the Agribusiness Grant Facilitation Program, KCARD helps you learn about and apply for funding opportunities. Since 2016, KCARD has pursued agriculture in Appalachian Kentucky through partnerships across the region, taking into considerations the region’s assets and limitations.
In 2020, KCARD launched several new programs, including the following:
The Kentucky AgVets program connects veterans and active-duty military in Kentucky with resources for careers or businesses in agriculture.
The Local Food Expansion Program helps match producers to those seeking local products, including exploring new markets.
Due to generous support from the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board and the US Department of Agriculture’s Rural Cooperative Development Grants, KCARD has been able to offer many of its basic services free of charge.
If any of these programs could benefit you or your business, please contact KCARD staff at info@kcard.info. Check out our website at www.kcard.info to see articles about other Kentucky farmers, businesses, and agritourism venues we have worked with over the years.
