JOB OPENING:  2 positions

1.     Business Development Assistant/Specialist (full-time)

2.     Administrative Assistant (part-time)

The Kentucky Center for Agriculture and Rural Development has two openings: 1) full-time Business Development Assistant/Specialist (designated as either Assistant or Specialist depending on the level of experience and expertise) and 2) part-time Administrative Assistant.

 KCARD is a non-profit organization that works with farmers, farmers markets, agritourism operations, value-added operations, cooperatives, meat processing facilities, grain handling operations, horticultural businesses, and many other agricultural-related businesses operating in Kentucky. 

 KCARD employees work remotely and have flexible scheduling options.

 1. Business Development Assistant/Specialist (full-time)   

·         Meet with producers, business owners, and organizations interested in KCARD services to gather information, assess needs, and determine appropriate courses of action in coordination with the KCARD team

·         Serve as a resource for farmers and agribusinesses and provide business development assistance

·         Conduct market research

·         Develop and review financial statements and projections

·         Work with businesses to draft business and marketing plans

·         Full-time with benefits with salary commensurate with education and experience levels, with an expected range of $35,000-$50,000.

2.  Administrative Assistant (part-time, flexible, 20-25 hours/week):   

·         Handle client files, data entry, meeting coordination, and project support

·         Part-time, flexible, 20-25 hours/week @ $15-$20/hour

 

Qualifications: 

·         Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

·         Attention to detail

·         Strong work ethic with a self-motivated nature

·         Knowledge of Kentucky agriculture and the agricultural and food sectors

·         Experience with computers and common software, including Microsoft Excel

·         Valid driver’s license and access to private vehicle

·         Additional qualification for Business Development positions:  Undergraduate degree in relevant field.

 

Location: Flexible within the state of Kentucky, with in-state travel expected.
