“Agriculture is such an important part of our everyday lives, so being able to play even a small role in supporting the people behind it is incredibly meaningful to me.”
— Maddie Grider

Q: How long have you been with KCARD and what made you decide to work at KCARD?

A: I started at KCARD in 2021 as Client Coordinator – meaning if you called us, I was usually the first person you talked to. Though my role has changed over the years, my passion for KCARD and Kentucky agriculture has stayed constant. From the beginning, I was drawn to KCARD because it felt like a place where I could stay connected to agriculture while also helping people in a practical way and I’m very proud of the work we get to do.

Q: What drew you to this kind of work?

A: Agriculture has always been a part of my life. I grew up on a family farm, so I’ve seen firsthand both the rewards and the challenges that come with it. That background is what led me to study agriculture at WKU, and it really shaped the kind of work I wanted to do. I’ve always known I wanted a career where I could stay connected to agriculture and support the people who make it all happen. KCARD felt like a natural fit because it allows me to do that in a hands-on way, helping people navigate decisions, find resources, and move their ideas forward.

Q: What does working with farmers and community partners mean to you?

A: It means a lot to me, honestly. Farmers are some of the hardest-working and most resilient people I know, and getting to support them, even in small ways, is really meaningful. Every conversation is different, and you never know what someone might be dealing with or working toward. Being able to listen, connect them with resources, and help them feel supported is something I don’t take for granted. I also really value the relationships we have with community partners across the state. It’s a reminder that this work isn’t done alone—it takes a lot of people working together to truly support Kentucky agriculture.

Q: What do you hope KCARD is known for in the next 25 years?

A: I hope KCARD continues to be known as a trusted, approachable resource for farmers and rural businesses across Kentucky. More than anything, I want people to feel comfortable reaching out - whether they have a big idea, a challenge they’re facing, or just aren’t sure where to start. I think agriculture is always evolving, and in the next 25 years there will be new opportunities and new challenges. My hope is that KCARD continues to adapt alongside producers and remains a place people can turn to for honest support, practical guidance, and encouragement along the way.
